Daily Schedules vary a bit from room to room, but generally, this is what a day at Chai Tots typically looks like:
We offer early and after care programs, from 8:00-9:00 am and 3:00-6:00 pm.
9:00-9:15 | Arrival, Greetings, Informal conversation. |
9:15-10:00 | Discovery time: Free choice among a variety of activities in the learning centers: literacy, reading, writing/listening, manipulatives, dramatic play, cooking, science, sensory, art, music, etc. |
10:00-10:20 | Clean up and Snack. |
10:20-10:40 | Circle time with music, stories, and games to introduce the daily theme and concepts. |
10:40-11:00 | Music and Movement. Music has been shown to improve memory, fine motor skills, focus, and can help develop imagination and self-expression. Music also promotes confidence and self-esteem in a healthy and positive way. (This includes aerobics, gymnastics, dance, and instrumental play) |
11:00-11:30 | Project time: Opportunities for children to choose between 2 or 3 projects to further explore the theme and sharpen specific skills. Children who finish early have a chance to pull out our “magic carpet activities” which provide them a chance to choose a transition game they can play on their own. |
11:30-12:00 | Outdoor Play |
12:00- 12:30 | Washing hands, lunch, and conversations. |
12:30-12:45 | Story Time: The children look forward to this time when they can hear a great story and ask questions. |
12:45-1:15 | Rest and Quiet Time for the younger kids: Lying down and stretching out. Listening to soft music, looking through books. |
1:15-1:30 | This is when we sit together to introduce work and play time to the children. This helps create an easy transition into the next part of our day. |
1:30-2:00 | Work/Play: A Small group project time with table activities and learning centers. |
2:00-2:30 | Outdoor Play |
2:30 – 2:50 | Snack time |
